Body Talk

Your body is a tremendous asset because it will always alert you if you’re not staying true.  Your body is your built-in GPS, providing continuous, real-time guidance.  At any point in time, your body will let you know if you’re on the right track or if you’re going down the wrong path.

Unfortunately, a lot of people fail to notice or ignore their body’s signals.  The tightness you might feel in the top of your shoulders, a slight quiver in your gut, or when your heart is beating a tiny bit faster.  Every body sensation is a clue.  You just have to stop and figure out what your body is trying to tell you.

When I was working for HP, for the first few years my body felt at ease.  It was telling me that I was right where I was supposed to be.  But gradually, my body starting signaling that it was time to leave.  I had insomnia when I went out of town on business travel.  I tried sleeping pills, warm baths, hot tea but still I’d find myself wide awake at 3 in the morning.  In staff meetings, I often had panic attacks.  On the outside, I appeared calm and collected, but on the inside I felt like a wreck.  My scalped itched all of the time and my skin kept breaking out in hives.  One day, I picked up a book, You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay and she said that itching is a sign that you are “itching” to get out or get away.  But instead I stayed.  I stayed at HP for five more years, not realizing that my body was saying, “Get me out of here.”

Your body talks to you in a very simple way.  You’ll feel healthy, relaxed and at ease when the steps you’re taking are right.  When the steps you’re taking are wrong you’ll feel pain, dis-ease and like me, you may find it hard to sleep at night.

Learn to decipher your body’s clues and let it give you guidance on what to do.  The mind can conceal truth.  But the body only reveals truth, so it will never betray or deceive you.
